Altar and Rosary

Mission Statement

The Altar and Rosary Society promotes devotion to our blessed Mother through the praying of the Rosary. Love for the House of God is expressed by caring for the needs of others and the church. The Altar and Rosary Society helps to develop a bond of friendship and loyalty among all women of the parish. Members organize various activities to carry out these objectives.

What We Do

Official meetings are held at noon on the second Wednesday of the months of May, August, and November (planning meeting). Members conduct outreach activities to aid our church and our community. They provide a scholarship for one high school senior each year, Advent and Lent booklets, and support a child in another country. They provide lunches at funeral masses and send cards to the ill and homebound. Members attend retreats for revitalization and meditation, and provide learning opportunities. Members launder and maintain the altar robes. On the first Friday of the month, A&R meets for Mass and encourages fellowship afterwards. Throughout the year, members conduct special fund raising events to fund their charitable projects. Members are also involved with and coordinate the distribution of donations to Sister Ludmilla's Father Conroy's Vineyard of Hope, small gifts for monthly birthdays of Manor Care residents, the Haiti Layette Project and SPEC (domestic abuse - Strong Partners Embracing Change & Solidarity). If you are a new member of OLOR or have been a member for many years, Altar & Rosary invites your support.
